EYFS

The EYFS Curriculum at Braywick Court School enables our pupils to become confident and independent learners who have a love for learning and a desire to succeed. Our carefully planned provision takes into account the children’s interests, and along with the Development Matters curriculum provides an exciting and ambitious learning environment. We begin our journey in education by learning how to communicate with each other respectfully, develop healthy relationships to last a lifetime, and build up the physical skills to support our development across the rest of the curriculum.

Our day typically consists of three structured carpet sessions where we teach progressive skills, followed by free flow time to enable the children to apply and further explore their learning. Our pupils also apply learning through adult led activities designed to consolidate and stretch teaching that has already taken place.

By the end of their time in our Reception class, we aim for our learners to be:

·         Confident

·         Independent

·         Aspirational

·         Inspirational

·         Resilient

·         Honest

·         Collaborative

·         Respectful

Enrichment

Our enhanced curriculum across the school means that all children gain access to specialist teaching which further enhances their wider experiences and builds upon their life skills. We take weekly Green Schools trips out onto the beautiful nature reserve and use this time to explore the world around us and learn how to look after our environment. Other specialist teaching includes weekly Spanish lessons in the Summer term and twice weekly PE lessons all year round with our Sports Coach. Swimming lessons also take place in the summer term to not only teach the children to swim but to ensure they understand safety around water and skills for survival. School trips off site are also carefully planned across the year to enhance areas of the curriculum already taught and support children in applying their understanding to real life experiences.
