Home Learning and Remote Education
We strongly believe that a balanced and high-quality curricular provision should be available to all pupils, including during temporary school closures. In the event of a school closure of any duration, we will offer immediate remote education to families with continuation of the high standards of learning that characterise the normal school day.
Our priority is to deliver face-to-face, high-quality education to all pupils. The evidence is clear that being out of education causes significant harm to educational attainment, life chances, mental and physical health.
Emergency School Closure
In the event of very bad weather or other force majeure situations, the decision to close the school will be taken after great consideration. We will only close the school if it is absolutely necessary.
In the event of any school closure at short notice we will contact all parents via email and will post a message on our school Facebook page.
Remote learning will be set by teaching staff via our online platforms: Google Classroom, Century Tech, Monster Phonics, TT Rockstars and Numbots.
Home Learning
Learning at home is an essential part of good education. Regular home learning is important, since it gives pupils the opportunity to practice at home tasks done in the class, and helps the pupils work towards improving important skills. It also helps children to become confident and independent in their learning, which will help throughout their time at school, and in adult life.
Home learning is categorised as any activity that pupils undertake outside of timetabled lesson time.
Our home learning policy clearly outline expectations for parents regarding supporting learning at home:
